When it comes to covered calls, there are a huge amount of resources available to investors, some better than others. Doing a quick Google search shows there are some really shady and poor quality websites out there that you would do well to avoid.
Rather than name the ones to avoid, here is a list of some of the top resources that I personally recommend:
Covered Call Calculator ) – My personal spreadsheet that I use when analysing all covered call or cash secured put trades.
Options Industry Council – The OIC has a huge amount of resources for investors and is a great place to start. There is so much information there it can be hard to know where to start. For covered calls specifically, you might want to check out this course.
CBOE – The CBOE also has a very brief course with some basic details on covered calls. They also have some trading tools and calculators that you might find useful.
Volatility Optimizer – This scanner offered through CBOE and ivolatility might come in handy, although it does come at a price.
iVolatility – A free account with ivolatility will allow you to view 12-month volatility data on any stock. Quite handy when it comes to analysing covered calls.
Blue Collar Investor Free Training Videos – Some really good videos here covering a myriad of topics related to covered calls.
BCI Encyclopedia for Covered Call Writing – Alan Ellman’s book is about as complete a guide on covered calls as you are likely to find.
Born to Sell – Another good website with lots of information. I have never used any of their paid products, so can’t give a recommendation either way on those. Plenty of free information on the site though that may be of use.
